Free University Program: The Version Conference
Conference Program includes talks and presentations.

1pm Bridgeport Walking Tour with Mike Pocius and friends. Meet with Mike at the Bridgeport Coffee House and take a tour of the community of the future.

2pm How to be Sexually Progressive: Porn, MTV and Metrosexuals
Maureen Fitzpatrick, Nicholas Grider, Melody Hoffmann
In this panel we explode pop culture discourse by exposing the political and societal value of Chris Cunningham's music videos, female-produced porn websites, and the metrosexual identity. These elements of popular consumer culture aggressively re-work, question, and deconstruct heteronormative sexuality. Our goal is to emphasize the importance of their place in culture; it is in the popular, albeit consumption-based, realm that messages have their greatest impact.

3pm Art Shanty Projects
Soap Factory
For the last three winters the frozen surface of Medicine Lake has hosted exhibitions of architecture, performances, science, art, zombies, spear-fishing, videos, robots, pinhole cameras, sculpture, radio, knitting, readings and karaoke. The Art Shanty Projects are part art gallery, part residency and part sculpture park, inspired by the tradition of ice fishing and ice fishing houses used in the Minnesota winter. A big hit at Version>05, the Art Shanties return to Bridgeport with members of the Soap Factory collective to present their multimedia story.

Volunteers from Chicago's amazing Working Bikes Coop are here to take away your fear of gears with a friendly hands-on workshop on bike repair for everyone.

4pm Bridgeport Walking Tour with Mike Pocius and friends. Meet with Mike at the Bridgeport Coffee House and take this last tour of the community of the future.

Underground Multiplex
6pm: "I"
Expanding on the explosive prequel Eye of the Storm, “i” is a meditation on the relationship between media and power as manifest by the worlds largest all volunteer network of media activists, the Independent Media Center network, or “Indymedia.” This feature documentary portrays this unprecedented global movement through an intimate look at a single node of that network during the crisis that followed the 2001 collapse of the economy and government in Argentina.

Produced and directed by a pair of young filmmakers working with largely consumer equipment, “i” is both an example of independent, engaged grassroots media, and a portrait of how such media functions during situations of political crisis. Lyon and Ingoglia weave a tapestry of stories and perspectives of this group as they attempt to work in the swirl of political drama and grassroots struggle that followed the crash.

The result is a dramatic and poetic portrayal of the complex questions that surround identity and information in our networked age
