Version
Festival’s Urban Gardening and Exterior Decoration Call For Work.
April 22- May 1, 2005 Chicago
Urban Gardening and Exterior Decoration (UGED) is the act of beautifying
the urban landscape.
We are seeking works to distribute and display at a Version>05 festival
show held April 23 in Chicago.
If you engage in infowar or are interested
in the beautification of public space via public art works, we want to see
and distribute your work.
UGED is an exhibition and distribution platform. The project has two components.
Exhibition
One part of the project is to highlight recent activities within guerrilla
communication and street art communities. We will display documentation of
projects that exhibit individual works and collaborations via a series of
installations.
Urban Gardening and Exterior Decoration Kit
Assorted pre-made and original works will be available to visitors of the
show. Visitors will be able to choose from a number of artifacts: stickers,
posters, stencils, tags, pins, photocopy art, zines, pamphlets, how-to guides,
cut-outs, seeds, and buttons. The visitors are then encouraged to disseminate
works in their own neighborhood.
Deadlines
We need work by March 15 in order to credit you in the printed festival program.
We can accept work until April 7, however, you will not be credited in the
program.
Other Options:
If you have an interesting installation or project that you would like to
realize or display during the festival, please let us know what it is and
we can try to accommodate it. We have a flexible amount of space at our large
venue.
We are also interested in hosting workshops by contributing artists.
In
General
Please submit multiple copies of your work(s) if possible. Or send us
digital files of your work for us to output and replicate. Participants
that send
multiples and copies of their work will receive one “kit” in
the mail a month after the show. We are sorry we will not be able to afford
sending copies to everyone that contributes individual pieces. We hope
to be able to provide 2-300 kits for the show and expect all work to be
picked
up and distributed.
Pictures of work on display at the show and on the streets will be blogged
on the Versionfest.org site.
One More Thing
If you are sending work over, please fill out this form and send along with
your contribution.
