Fragmentos de un Video Amoroso is a Video compilation that was curated by Jose Alejandro Restrepo in 2002. These videos were created based on words from the different chapters of the book "A Lover's Discourse" by Roland Barth. The following seven pieces are a few of the works that were featured in this project.

ERRABUNDEO (Wandering)

Different ideas about wandering the world, but excluding it from the context of Roland Barth' s text, which is the reference-excuse for the making of this video.
- Images of endless highways, a radio interview that has no beginning or end, time codes that go on and on.

AGONIA (Agony)

This video, a vivid fiction where characters are part of a fictitious mosaic, shows a wide variation of short agonic stories that intertwine. The image of a photo album on a wall, the drama unfolds as different texts appear in relation to the different people in the pictures. A web of interalted testimonials constructs a story that remains undefined due to its lack of linearity.

SIN AMOR (Without love)

VIDEO(B)ART(H)ES

Word for word translation of email sent by Luis when asked for a synopsis of the video. " I don't have a synopsis, but the by luck the word assigned to me from Barthe's text was "suicide", so I used fragments of "Acto de Fe", my first film made at UCLA and inspired in "Erostrato" from Sartre, which in turn was a reference to the Greek character that burnt down the Efeso temple to become immortal. Everybody knows who burnt the temple, but no one knows who built it. I have also included scenes from the Ganges of a sleeping beauty, where it is unclear whether she is dead or not, as well as a family film of my first traumatic experience, filmed by my father, when he put me in a washing machine and gave it to my mother for Christmas. Well I hope that with this information you can construct a synopsis, its so hard to make a synopsis of art videos."

COLOMBIAN SPORT
2000, Elkin Calderon, Santiago Caicedo, Simon Hernandez, Carlos Franklin, Columbia, 5:10 min.
Student parody about violence. Comparative study between "Tejo" and dissent caused explosions. "Tejo" is a Colombian sport which consists in throwing heavy metal discs 15 meters into a mud recipient inlaid with fire crackers, the goal being for the fire crackers to explode. Images of this sport are Juxtaposed with scenes of masked students from Bogotá's National University throwing molotoff cocktails at police as well as scenes of attacks aimed at the powers that be.

DESPRENDIMIENTO DE ANO (Ass release, has double meaning in Spanish - end of year release)

Work about human use of chickens, cows and pigs. Shot inside slaughter houses, this video stars off slowly, in a cow pasture and builds up horrifically, faster and faster images of poultry, beef and pork production lines fly by to the rhythm of a musical sound track composed of chirping, machines and pork screams.

DISFRAZATE COMO QUIERAS (Dress up which ever way you want)

Taking part in one of the worlds best Carnivals in Barranquilla Colombia was a unique opportunity to really get down.
