MEDIA SELF-MUTILATION
solow
media self-mutilation
Roman Bolks and Stel Valavanis of solow bring you the latest in interactive media damage. Using their special sonar sensors and a few TVs and radios, they build an environment that allows the visitor to choose and manipulate TV and radio audio with their movements. Four stations, each with a sound source and with a sonar or two control the sound for a speaker opposite the station. The sonars feed MIDI data to a computer that modifies the live sound. Four or more visitors can "perform" together creating sound experiments from the damaged media source.

ADOPT AN AMERICAN
The Save America Foundation
Many people in the world are worried about the state of Democracy in. Adopt an American is an email and web-based cultural exchange program in which Europeans or other citizens of the world may interact with an American citizen in order to open lines of communication. By initializing a cross-continental conversation and providing a nurturing contact overseas, it is the hope of the Save America Foundation that dialogue will further the development of democratic and peaceful practices in the United States.
More conversations and contact will only benefit the world in these of militarism, fear and war. Adopt an American will be a lifeline communication enabler that allows personal stories to be shared along with information about the state of American politics and culture.

ICONOMIA
Jose Alejandro Restrepo
Video installation of the well known Colombian artist Jose Alejandro Restrepo. There are two segments Iconoclastia (36) and Iconofilia (1:17) , both made mainly from stock footage. This work is a study between those who love "the image" and those who hate "the image". The image as an Icon, from religious figures to the meditated version of our world. Those who pose for the cameramen, those who attack them. The destruction of plaster virgins and the idolization of a bleeding dying christ. Pablo Escobar's brother speaks directly to God threw a live TV interview: "Threw this medium I want to tell God...."

LEARNING STALLS: MODULAR SYLLABI AND ORGANIC EXCHANGE
TORSTEN ZENAS BURNS+DARRIN
EDU Content is based on our research into diverse speculative fictions and reimagined educational practices. We will show physical and metaphoric bodies mining for the possibility of exisiting altenative therapies that have gone untapped and lie dormant within the body. i.e.psychic potential, improvisational communication with inorganic/organic props, pseudo testing methods_staged quasi therapy sessions, artists and other participants reenacting humorous and vigorous physio-dynamic interactions. Video that plays with gender and blurred intersexuality. Image combinations that use the body as a conduit or trigger for ambigious imagination

PAINTINGS, PHOTOS AND OTHER WORK

JASON ARCHER and PAUL BECK

LOGAN BAY
Out the Window on the Street is an on going project exploring the urban landscape and documenting its essence. A mythical magical fantasyland of cheap gas and cigarettes. Black Cat. Kool. Industrial Strip. Land of perverse pleasures: gambling, illegal fireworks, strip clubs. Black plumes of doom float over seasonal sand dunes populated by families escaping the heat. Sweet seduction and dusted Chevys. Front lawns of asphalt and grass that runs rusty in the rain.
