7pm “Nothin’ Special”
A video screening curated by Jacob Ciocci of Paper Rad
One hour of videos from the sad lands of post-internet contemporary USA.
Some of these artists I have met, others are YouTube apparitions, and others
are complete mysteries, discovered, re-discovered, and lost again inside
the internet’s caverns. Original or stolen footage, homemade or mass-produced,
monumental or completely boring, there is no difference. A magical moment
becomes meaningless, then rediscovered as a powerful ghost, then buried again--
all in the blink of an eye. Banal vs. Extraordinary, Derivative vs Original,
Insane vs Normal, Real vs Fake, these distinctions don’t exist because
we walk with all these spirits simultaneously.
Including work by:
John Michael Boling and Javier Morales (New York), Jesse Hulcher (Pittsburgh),
John Kilduff (Youtube/California), Jesse Mclean (Pittsburgh), Shana Moulton
(California), Nanny Lynn (Michigan), Happeh (Youtube/California), Guthrie
Lonergan (California), Kathleen Daniel aka Silicious (Youtube/Germany)
8pm Performance Program
Dungeon Majesty is a cable-access show where 4 girls play D&D and act
out some scenes in front of a green screen with super-cheesy special effects
and pen-and-paper animations. Its creators will be appearing live unveiling
a new episode for the first time.
Everyone’s favorite Providence psychedelic neon art troupe returns
with a new installation and performance freak out.
Portland-based multimedia performance-artist does it all. A graphic designer,
founder of the Audio Dregs record label and publisher of Thumb zine, he also
knows how to turn a party out.
New Orleans-bound heavy psych-rock powerhouse emerges from the woods of Missouri
to rattle your brain and buttfuck your dreams into oblivion. You’ll
never get to heaven if you’re scared of getting high!
Fuzzed out synths, layered melodies, drawn out bass sequences, and drum machine
generated handclaps get the party moving PDX-style.
Ride the Snake Down to the Lake
